WITH the title wrapped up in England, Germany, France and Italy domestic leagues. La Liga is the only major league in Europe where the title will come down to the last day of the season. Here is my Weekend Wrap Up on England's Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga and Spain's La Liga.
England
With the title already decided, teams either in the mid-section of the table left with nothing to fight or battling for European football next season or struggling to stay up in the Premier League, Match day 37 was full of action.
Manchester United scraped home a 1-0 over Norwich at Carrow Road to kick off the weekend in England`s top flight. Sunderland`s fight for survival took a step in the right direction with a 3-2 win over Chelsea at home. West Ham`s European hopes took a hit as they lost 4-1 to Swansea at home. Bournemouth and West Brom drew 1 all, whilst Newcastle and Aston Villa had nil all draw. Leicester City`s title party kicked off with a 3-1 win against Everton with Jamie Vardy adding 2 goals to his tally of 22 taking it to 24. Southampton jumped to sixth win a 2-1 win over second placed Tottenham. Manchester City`s champions league hopes for next season hit a stumbling block as it drew to fellow Champions League hopefuls Arsenal. Liverpool rounded off the weekend with a 2-0 win over struggling Watford.
Germany
Bayern Munich picked up its fifth consecutive title, Stuttgart and Werder Bremen’s fight for survival is going down to the wire and Schalke`s Champions Leagues hopes are all but gone.
1 nil wins were witnessed in three separate games in Germany`s top flight over Match Day 33 with Wolfsburg beating Hamburg, Eintratch beating Dortmund and Hannover beating Hoffernheim. Another three games ended with 2-1 results with Darmstadt beating Hertha, Gladbach beating Leverkusen, and Bayern beating Ingolstadt to secure the title. Schalke and Augsburg played out a 1 all draw, with Schalke dropping 2 crucial points late in the game leaving the club needing a
win next weekend for European football. In the other game Koln and Werder battled out a tight nil all draw.
Spain
Atleti leaving the title race, Levante’s relegation to La Liga 2 was confirmed and Villarreal, Celta De Vigo, Athletic Club`s spot in Europe was all but confirmed La Liga's Match Day 37 was one packed with goals
Barcelona dispatched Espanyol 5-0 in the Catalan Derby. Celta De Vigo fought for a 1-0 win over Malaga. Eibar dominated a 1 all draw against Real Betis, Getafe also dominated but could only manage a 1 all draw against Sporting De Gijon. Las Palmas and Athletic Club played out a tight nil all draw. Levante couldn`t prevent itself from relegation defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1, ending Atleti`s title hopes. Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-2 to stay in the title race, Real Sociedad won 2-1, Granada beat Sevilla 4-1 and Deportivo beat Villarreal 2-0.
